    David is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist who founded the Physiowest Physiotherapy clinic in Sunshine in 1988, after graduating in 1984. In 2000 with partner Richard McGlynn, expanded Physiowest in opening the Physiowest Deer Park clinic.


    Since 2000 David has worked at the Australian Open tennis grand slam, treating the world’s leading tennis players at Melbourne Park each January.


    David was team Physiotherapist for Melbourne Knights soccer club in the National Soccer League when they were national champions and continues to treat many players from soccer clubs of all levels.


    He has been an Independent Medical Examiner for the Victorian Worksafe Authority for 15 years and provided Physiotherapy treatment services to a number of Melbourne University research programs.


    David’s special clinical interests include soccer and tennis sports injuries, shoulder rehabilitation and headaches and he continues to teach spinal manipulation to new graduate Physiotherapists.

    Richard completed his degree with honours at the University of Southampton in the UK in 1998. Then went on the work for 3 years at a London NHS hospital. During this time he also treated clients from West End Musicals and local athletes.


    On moving to Australia in 2001 he worked at Freemasons Hospital in East Melbourne where he led the Physiotherapy services of the Intensive Care Unit.


    He then joined Physiowest in 2002 and soon after joined David in partnership of the Deer Park Clinic. Richard was also a team Physiotherapist for the Melbourne Knights Soccer Club in The National Soccer League.


    He has gained 20 years in musculoskeletal private practice managing sports injuries, respiratory conditions, neurological conditions such as strokes as well as neck pain, headaches and back pain management.

    Maria completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne in 2011. Since then she has worked in a variety of private practice and aged care settings, including a headache-specific clinic, joining the Physiowest team in early 2016.


    Maria is currently completing her APPI Clinical Pilates training. She has also completed training in Dry Needling and is a Level 2 Watson Headache Approach practitioner.


    Maria enjoys treating people from all walks of life, with a specific interest in headaches, spinal pain and knee injuries. She is passionate about using exercise and Pilates in helping her clients to achieve their best results.


    Maria is an avid traveller, and in her time outside of work she enjoys learning Spanish and getting out of the city for a hike.

    Clare qualified as a physiotherapist in 2000 from the University of the West of England. Since then Clare has worked in the UK, New Zealand and Australia in hospital and private settings. Clare has also completed a Certificate IV in fitness and Clinical Pilates and recently decided to return to studies and has just completed her Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at La Trobe University.


    Clare has managed a wide range of acute and chronic musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and sporting conditions over the years and particularly enjoys post-operative rehabilitation of clients.


    Clare utilises exercise prescription and Clinical Pilates in combination with hands-on techniques to provide an individualised management plan to promote optimal function and movement, required for returning to work and day-to-day activities.


    When not working Clare can be found walking the dog, in the gym, scuba diving in the bay or completing DIY projects around the house.

    Mary graduated with a Master of Physiotherapy Practice in 2020 after previously completing a Bachelor of Health Sciences. Since graduating, Mary has worked in aged care and private practice settings treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. 


    Mary is currently completing her APPI Pilates qualification and loves incorporating this into her patient’s rehabilitation program. She believes movement is medicine and is passionate about patient education to ensure a holistic approach. 

    While Mary treats all types of conditions, she has special interest in sports and dance injuries being a dancer and a qualified dancer teacher. 


    Outside of work, Mary loves dining out with friends, going to a Pilates class or being active outside.

    Daniel completed his Physiotherapy degree in 2015 in Melbourne. Since then, he has worked in private practice and occupational rehabilitation in Melbourne prior to moving to the United Kingdom, where he worked in various NHS Hospitals over 4 years. While there Daniel worked in some of the largest NHS Trusts in London, such as University College London Hospital and Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals. In these Trusts, he worked closely with numerous specialists in complex pain, pre and post-operative traumas and alongside the Institute of Sport and Exercise Health.


    Since returning to Melbourne in December 2022 Daniel joined Physiowest and hopes to use his skills and knowledge to complement the team and continue treating patients of all backgrounds. His particular areas of interest are in sports, shoulder pain and the foot and ankle. Daniel is passionate about soccer and basketball and has previously worked with state level soccer teams.


    Outside of work Daniel has a keen interest in travelling, playing soccer, cycling and has a particular interest in languages. He is currently learning Greek and trying to keep up his German.

    Chris qualified as an Exercise Scientist in 2019 from the Australian Catholic University (ACU). After growing a passion for a hands on approach in assisting people work towards improving their physical health, he went on to further study completing a Diploma of Remedial Massage in 2023 at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).

     

    Chris has since secured various opportunities as a Remedial Therapist in treating world class athletes, from securing an opportunity with New Zealand’s national basketball team as well as being offered a position to work alongside Essendon’s AFLW medical team.

     

    Chris is continuing to upskill his industry practice  by studying an Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy at RMIT.

     

    Chris is excited to bring his Remedial Massage practice to Physiowest and treat all types of conditions with a special interest in chronic neck pain and sports-related injuries after many years of playing football and tennis.

     

    When not working, Chris can be found watching any form of sport or Marvel movie, going to the footy, working out at the gym and enjoying a brunch breakfast burrito.
